TTM program aims to develop and produce post-graduate students who can conduct the body of knowledge via scientific research in the field of herbal and traditional medicines.


About Program
TTM program emphasizes the researches on safety, efficacy and quality of herbal and traditional medicines via in vitro, in vivo and clinical research. Safety and efficacy researches cover a variety of biological activity evaluation using chemical reactions, enzymatic reactions, cytological tests as well as animal models. Quality research can be explored in diversified aspects. Pharmacognostic specification of crude drug is essential condition for herbal drug standardization. Plant morphological, anatomical and histological characters are particularly macroscopic / microscopic evident. Molecular techniques have also been developed as useful tools for DNA fingerprinting. Herbal medicines are pharmacologically active according to the specific phytochemical compounds in each crude drug. Chemical fingerprinting and phytochemical quantification are needed to strengthen herbal medicine qualification. These scientific evidence-based pre-clinical researches are prerequisite prior to clinical researches and also herbal product development.

  • DNA-based molecular technology: PCR-RFLP, RAPD, AFLP, ISSR, microsatellite DNA, SNPs and DNA barcoding
